Recently obtained a gmail account (wanted to test IE 7.0 with Gmail)
Clean system, Zone Alarm Pro 6.1.7, Panda Antivirus, system specs already posted several times. Using: -IE 7.0 5335.5 -Fiddler tool IE 6 and IE 7.0 "user agent string" registry hacks. Gmail, when accessed from a "Google Personalized Home page" (set up to monitor your Gmail account) will crash IE 7.0 causing it to freeze up and can only be ended through task manager. At times Gmail can be accessed succesfully yet the Google home page will crash IE 7.0 when you try to sign out after viewing your Gmail and going back to Google home. Gmail, when accessed directly seems to run ok. I understand that IE 7.0's past and present build may still have some problems with Gmail. Gmail (example above) runs fine in FireFox and Opera 8.54. Google Calendar will not render properly using IE 7.0 as IE 7.0 but will render properly when the Fiddler Tool IE 6.0 "user agent string" registry hack is applied. Windows Live Mail does not support IE 7.0 (the Live Mail site states: "Your browser is not supported"). You can still access Live Mail but only as the "Classic Hotmail" (two pane) layout. Applying the Fiddler Tool IE 6.0 "user agent string" registry hack solves this problem and the LIve Mail (three pane) layout can be used no problem. Just thought you might want to know. Note: I know I read something about problems with Gmail in the newsgroup but I can't seem to find anything now. Have a great day, |

Don't know about gmail, but Live Mail works perfectly fine for me without any
changes to IE7, using release 5335.5. I've had the unsupported browser on a different site, contacted them and thhey simply said they don't want to support a beta browser, so won't support it until IE7 is oficcially released. "Old Beta Tester" wrote: [..] |

Hey Thunder,
Mistakenly posted error on Windows Live Mail. Error was not with IE 7.0 but another browser...late night. Guess I was getting tired. Thanks for the reminder. Found that random links in a "signed in" Google such as Page Creator or "Personalized Home" page fail to work and is usually an indicator of an impending crash. |
