I'm using MOM2005 right out of the box using the OS mgt pack and sql server.

I've registered a number of servers and have begun to notice that different
servers have different sampled counters. They are all running under the
samer version of O/S and service patch level..

Also, not all the SQL server related counters that I see when I run perfmon
under the OS for SQL are represented within MOM 2005.

Any clues how to maintain a consistent "sampling" package of counters and
how to get more of the SQL server related counters?

thks

You have a number of questions.

1. Can you describe the different counters for different servers. If all
the machines you are monitoring are the same OS version and all running SQL,
then they should have the same counters.

2. Between the MOM and SQL teams, we came up with a subset of the SQL
performance counters that we thought are important to Operations monitoring.
If we blindly brought back all the counters, that would cause a lot of
overhead and a lot of the information that you would not need. You can add
rules for any rules that are pertinent to your organization
