Hello to everybody,
how come that after I restart the server on which MOM is installed I
cannot see performance data that refer to the period *before* the
restart?

Shouldn't MOM keep data in a database, so I can get, in every moment I
want, performance data for the last 'n' days (for example)?

Thanks in advance for any useful suggestion or workaround.

Hi
Make sure that you have all parameters set correct, like computer group,
scope, data and parameters.
Can you see any other day before today? Default is that MOM save 4 days of
data in the OnePoint database.

Yes it shows data up to 4 days.
Ho can I do to increase this value?
I suppose there's a switch in the Administrator Console, but didn't
found it.

Thanks a lot in advance.

You will find that setting in the administrator console under global
settings and database grooming.
You should not keep to many days of data in the OnePoint database, instead
you install MOM reporting services and
longterm store your data in that database.

Ok.
I know about the exsistence of MOM Reporting, but I haven't be able to
cope with it.
That's why I'm still using the operator console for gaining
performance data.

I installed MOM reporting (which is actually SQL Reporting Services),
but I don't know how to get data from OnePoint database (the MOM data)
and to store it in a (new?) db.

SQL Reporting Services seems installed correctly, in fact I can access
to it by the web console, i.e.:

http://192.168.0.5/Report/

The first thing to do is creating a new db connection, right?
Do I have to connect to the MOM db or to a brand new db, or to another
dabatase?

The Reporting Services documentation suggests to use this connection
string:

data source=<server_name>;initial catalog=OnePoint

so I suppose I have to connect to the MOM db.

But if I try to connect to that database, using the proper credentials
(a new user called "reports"), when I go to the "report" section in
the web admin area it says that no reports exist for the specified
connection.

Definitely: where I have to connect (and how) and who makes the
reports? MOM or MOM Reporting Services ?

Thanks a LOT for any useful explanations.

Hi
You should install MOM Reporting Services, after you have installed
Reporting Services. The MOM installation will
create the database and setup a DTS job to transfer data from you OnePoint
database. Nothing to do manually.
You can read all about installing MOM reporting on this webpage

You should not try to do any databases yourself. When you install MOM
reporting services all
settings will be done for you and a database will be created. There will
aslo be a new schedule task (dts job) to transfer data from your one point
database. You can read about installing mom reporting services here
