We're having a little problem in our office. We all have
Outlook 2003 and we have our calendars shared using
Exchange. In 2003 you have a calendar category on the
left and then you have a list of calendars with boxes for
check marks. This allows you to open multiple calendars.

The problem is, sometimes when you click on another
user's calendar their calendar moves elsewhere in the
list or it disappears. It happens on every computer with
Outlook 2003 and there doesn't seem to be a way to make
the shared calendars stick.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Hi

I have just setup a client with Outlook 2003 and multiple shared Calendars and have the same issue - the calendars dissapear when clicked and/or move when clicked and/or don't appear at all

This is such a blatant bug I can't believe they missed it (typical MS). Evey PC I set it up on had the same issue (Windows 2000 and Windows XP Pro). I'm trying to see if there are setups where this works without issue. Maybe because I am using Exchange 5.5 rather than 2000

What Exchange Version are you using? Anyone else out there with this issue??? or with this working!

We were running on Exchange 2000, then we installed
Outlook 2003 on our machines and later upgraded to
Exchange 2003.

I'm not having the problem at the moment, it seems kind
of intermittent. A guy I work with thought it might be a
performance issue, where opening so much data causes
Windows or Outlook to close some of the calendars.

Hi Guys

I am running SBS 2000 with W2K clients and Office 2003.

We have a public calendar and a public contacts folder.

On various machines we have been losing these from the
favourites list and on one occasion the public calendar
appeared under the contacts section. I then had to remove
it and re-add.

Also, it would be nice for the machine to remember that
you had the public calendar open and to show the side-by-
side view automatically when you next log in.

Any ideas?

I'm having the exact same problem... now you see 'em, now
you don't... If I go remove the mailbox and then add it
again, the calendars reappear. But they will then
disappear again with no noticable pattern.

I'm running Exchange 2003 and the clients are a mix of
Outlook XP and Outlook 2003. The client with the
disappearing calendars is using Outlook 2003.

It took months to get this office to actually use shared
calendars. I need a fix VERY soon please!

Hi all

I have raised this as a support call with MS and they are 'looking into it' - but they say they have not heard of the same exact issue before - the Exchange support team (Andy) said he was pretty sure it wasn't an Exchange issue and passed it back to the Outlook team (who originally said they don't use Exchange in their group so couldn't comment(!!) - obviously Outlook used with Exchange is quite rare (!#@

I am currently (28th April 04) corresponding with Microsofts Maria Mårtensson (ncs) and the reference is Microsoft Support Case: SRQ040413601161 - so if anyone is told that this is not a known problem quote this. The more that actually report this to MS the quicker it will be sorted out hopefully. Maybe you could email MS with that reference directly so all the info goes to one place

I think we are onto something here! I am having this EXACT same proble
with my office 2003 intallatoin. We use Exchage 2000 with all ou
desktop/laptops using Office 2003. It took me months to get th
approval to upgrade to outlook 2003...and now I see why I should hav
waited. Microsoft should publically state that this is an MAJO
PROBLEM..!!!!! but I guess with that much money in the bank...the
figure they can do what they want. This has nothing to do wit
performance issues and is purely a BUG. a BIG BUG AT THAT. If I fin
out more information on this..I'll sure let everyone know. And pleas
do the same.

Hi

MS got back to me saying they couldn't reproduce the problem - though not sure how hard they tried, as someone trying to help here managed OK to reproduce the issue (Sue Mosher, who responds to quite a few issues here, said she got the problem after trying)

Anyway I have been sent a hotfix that is for a similar sounding but not directly related issue for me to try 'in a lab or similar environment' - nice of them to let me test things out for them! Anyway I will be running up a test with the patch to see if it will cure things. This will apparently be part of the upcomming Office Service Pack but until I test I don't know if it will help at all

I'll post back when I have tested it

This is a 'known' bug from my recent searches here and my own installation experience. It seems to be an Outlook 2003 bug - I have posted it as an issue with MS. Do a search here under 'calendar disappear' for more detail

It's a corrupt xml file for your profile or outlook didn't close smoothly
as the xml is created as outlook closes.
