I seek advice (and crackz) on the best software for
managing and playing MP3 files and movies on my HP Ipaq 2215
running Windows Mobile 2003.

My needs?

1) What program can replay Pocket Windows Media Player and the desktop
version of Windows Media to manage playlists (auto DJ) and transfer
the music to Pocket PC. I *hate* that Media player insists on
converting MP3's to WMA when transferring (is there a way around this? I
haven't found it!)

2) Isn't there ONE program that could handle playing / transferring all
the popular media types (both music and video)? (e.g. MP3, WMV, MPEG,
MPG, Real Media, VID, OGG, AVI) It shouldn't matter whether the source
stored on the Pocket PC or streaming form the internet. Or, is it that
all these popular types sooooo proprietary that no ONE program can
manage the whole lot?

3) While I'm not an audiophile or videophile (I don't insist on
equalizers, etc); I do want to be able to manage my extensive library
and transfer it to my device. I'm hoping that whatever software program
I go with will entice me into "digging deeper" into this world and
consider ripping, recording and the like; but I don't want to be bogged
down by heavy large, overly rich and complicated solutions.

All responses are greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Ric

Why do you have to convert to WMA ? Just transfer the MP3s into the PPC
thru Active-Sync, a card-reader, whatever. PPC WMP9 handles MP3s OK.

AFAIK there ain't one media-player for PPC that can deal with all those
formats.

My favourite audio player is PocketMusic. For video try something like
PocketTV.
