Can the search function be extended to any external (non-SharePoint)
websites? For example, if the search for a book in SharePoint Intranet does not give any result, can the search be extended to external websites like http://www.amazon.com or http://www.oreilly.com. What configuration or implementation to be done? |

Hi,
So what are the steps to do it? I created a content source for "http://www.oreilly.com" but could not get it to work. I even activate the on demand crawl but got an error "Could not Connect to the server. Please make sure the site is accessible.", but the site is actually available. Am I missing any steps? No response in a newsgroup means
a) haven't got an answer b) haven't seen the question - maybe haven't accessed the newsgroup - maybe lost the question when changing machines - etc. c) various other reasons including not understanding the question In my case it was a) P.S. Newsgroups are not a place for requiring "urgent responses" - for this contact Microsoft PSS or join the managed newsgroups system both of which use Microsoft personnel who are paid to answer you.
