Does anybody know where I can get an example of an Application Definition
that is required to allow a BDC to import fields into a user profile? I can
pull data from the BDC and display them using the BDC web parts but when I
try to match them to AD accounts, no data is imported into any of my Users
Profiles? Just want to make sure I am not missing and necessary filter
descriptions or anything like that.

Any documentation, samples, etc., would be greatly appreciated!!!

I didn't find any documentation on this but I did manage to import
data from BDC.

(1) Add a User Profile import connection specifying BDC as a data
source.
- Select 1:1 mapping if you are sure that the LOB system returns
only one row of data for each person. You need to SpecificFinder
method for this, and the identifier's data type has to match the AD
attribute type.
- Select 1:many mapping if the LOB system returns multiple rows of
data per person. In this case, you need to define a Finder method,
and one filter. The User Profile config UI will ask which filter in
the entity to use, and which existing profile property to use as
filter value.

(2) If you have already done (1) (I assume you have), I'd look at the
import logs to see if there was an error after the import. If there
was, you might need to look at the logs to check what specific BDC
error has occurred. I have seen one error where BDC is executed fine
in the web part but the profile import is failing because the account
running the profile crawl does not have the sufficient rights to
execute the BDC method(s).
