I understand that there is a way to make web part connections on a
site. However, is it possible to make the connection between different
team sites? The problem I have is that I have a custom list on one team
site, and I need to move a few of the items to an identical custom list
on another site. I don't care If I have to do this programatically.. I
haven't seen any examples or read anything that will allow me to do
this.. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

You probably do not need to use web part connections to do this. Those are
mainly for interactions between web parts and it does not appear that the
receiving web part needs to react to the new information. You should be
able to use the API to read the list entries and add them to the new list
using the SPList class.
