Is it possible to set up a subsite so that my customers only see the subsite
and do not access the main site. In other words I want them to go to
\\MyProject\CustomerReports directly without seeing or being able to go to
\\MyProject

Dean,

What you need to do is set your \CustomerReports site to use unique site
permissions as apposed to inherited permissions from the \MyProject
site. Then you can give your users rights to the \CustomerReports site
while denying them rights to the \MyProject site.

Hope this helps.

Thanks
C

Absolutely Yes

While Creating a site WSS asks you whether u want to inherit the permissions
from Parent Site or you want separate Security.

If you want to change the security settings of existing site, then from
"Site Settings" look for Manage Permission Inhertance and change the setting.

LMK if u need any more details..

Thanks

Didn't Cornelius already (4 hours earlier) say just this ? I don't see
anything new in your answer.

Are you perhaps working with an off-line copy of the newsgroup and so aren't
aware of recent postings when you answer ?

Mike according to the timestamps on the replies, Parag provided an answer 10
minutes earlier than Cornelius.....

I assume that the time is the server and not local client.

Interesting.

Where are you getting the time stamp from ?

I'm seeing (in Outlook Express) Cornelius at 04:44 and Parag at 08:17
(Outlook Express converts all postings to local time of the OE user hence
the odd-looking posting times)

Note: When my PC's clock was set wrong Outlook Express was using my (wrong)
local PC time in its listings so if there is another time stamp out there
showing a different picture maybe one of those two guys' computer clocks is
way off.

(Continuing the thread to avoid making the same mistake (if it was) in the
future)
