Hi,

We are setting up a new SOE and I'm trying to decide how I will
implement version control. I'm thinking a registry key, within a file
or variable. What I would like to do eventually is have SMS deploy
applications based on this version attribute setting. I could do stuff
like "only deploy this package to SOE V2.0 and greater".

My question is what is the easiest way to have SMS check for SOE
version? Is running a script that calls the msiexec command the only
way to go? Or is there a more intuitive method for doing this? I'm
asking this as it may determine which version mechanism I use.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks,
John.

Hi John,

Are you doing software/hardware inventory? You can simply create a
collection based upon a query that looks for a version collected from your
software inventory.
