I wanted to install both of these products so that I could learn more about
visual studio and sql server, I'm running under w2000 pro, and have all the service packs and security patches. I've installed both of these products but don't know where to go from here, whats this surface prep business, and the manager?? My system is behind both a software./hardware firewall and I want to make sure I don't leave any ports open for attack, since my system is now acting as a server, I really only wanted this for my home network, not for the internet, I used standard windows logon, so far, what else do need to do, and where can I learn more before proceeding so I don't mess something up??? I had no errors during or after the install, all MDAC components are installed |

By default, SQL Server Express edition only enables local connectivity so it
won't be accessible by remote connections so you are sorted on that front. As far as how to get started then BOL is what you want http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en |
