The FSO is not a part of VB per se, it is part of the 'Scripting Library'
and thus is useable from VBScript (WinHost), VB, and All the Office VBAs. So
for a specific complex situation, don't confine your search for answers to
just VB sites. (As you have discovered most VBers don't use it.)

Small Note: FSO is not an API, it is an object.

There are a huge number of websites that'll cover various API topics, but
probably one of the best places to start is
