All,

I'm using Visio 2007 to create an Entity Relationship Diagram (ERD) model
for a DB. Now, I'm having a hard time to get these tables and relationship
import into SQL Server 2008.

I tried the Export to DB Wizard but only get the diagrams and arrows info.
I need to create tables, columns, and PK/FK from the Visio diagram.

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Did you get a reply on how this is done? I am trying to figure out the same
thing. I would appreciate any info you can provide. So far all I have
discovered is that you should be able to do this with the enterprise edition.

Cheers,

Mike

Which ed. of Visio are you using?
As far as I know, Forward engg is only supported in Visio Enterprise.
W/ professional and standard, you can do reverse engg, but no Forward
engg.
I am also working on creating a Data model using Pro edition.
plz let me know...
Thanks

I am using 2007 Pro and have been searching for the EA version for a whole
day now and cannot even find a place to purchase it. I have been told by
several people that you can do this and have even seen it in action, but
cannot find this anywhere.

Hi All,

Did you guys get the answer? I am trying to do the same thing in Access and
All I get is everthing but the tables/views/relationships. Is it called
forward engineering? If enterprise Architect which version? Is it stand alone
or with Visual Studio Net? Please see my Other topic. We could do it in a
very old version.

Regards

I have been looking for this and can only find the EA version in the visual
Studio Enterprise Architect but finding the visio that goes along with it is
almost impossible, if you happen to find this please let me know I am having
to recreate an entire infastructure by hand and it is taking forever.

Thanks

Dear Mike,

It was possible in an older version of Visio. Check this link out which says
Visio 2000 Enterprise can do it using the "Generate Database Wizard.

http://www.win.tue.nl/~rp/visio/2mdb/

In another place it is said "Visio 2002 for Access Database Developers" can
do it.

http://www.skandus.com/visio.htm

On an other note I have seen done this this in a book called "Absolute
Beginner’s Guide to Databases By John V. Petersen" in which the it is done by
using Visio. However the book fails to mention the Visio version. On
extensive search the version may be by seeing the pic in the book Visio Pro
Technical.

Visio has

1 - Visio 2000 (6.0; Standard, Professional, Technical, Enterprise)
2 - Visio for Enterprise Architects 2003 (VEA 2003) (based on Visio 2002) IN
Visual Studio .NET 2003 Enterprise Architect
3 - Office Visio for Enterprise Architects 2005 (VEA 2005) (based on Visio
2003) IN
Visual Studio 2005 Team Suite &
Visual Studio 2005 Team Architect

It is imposible to find any of these. I have been searching for 1 week now.
Still i am trying. If i find the version I will e-mail you.

Thanks, I really appreciate this, I have been looking for a few weeks now, I
am in the meantime having to build the complete database infastructure by
hand, very time consuming. Thanks again if I get anywhere I will let you know.

Mike,

Chech this link out.

http://www.gravitycube.net/blog/post...rchitects.aspx

As you have Visual Studio 2005.Net EA you should be able ti install the

"Visio 2003 for Visual Studio 2005 EA". Now here the problem. The visio with
Visual Studio 2005.Net EA is actually Visio 2003.

I got the Visio 2003 for Enterprise Architect. If u get the same u can
forward engineer.

Any ideas on where I can find a copy of the Visio 2003 EA? I have been
looking for this for a while, I can only find the professional 2007 edition.
