Hi,

I use WinXP Prof.
Using Google Mail alias Gmail (Web-Based E-Mail).

I would like to use the "send to" function, in order to easily send files
via the internet. I would like to avoid using a local e-mail client. If
possible, I would like to create an entry in the IE Options Menu (Standard
E-Mail, like the one that exists for the hotmail web-based email).

I do not know how to set-up a webmail service on my PC. I only found the
standard setting for MS hotmail service. But no function to configure other
webmail clients that are pop enabled. I do not want to use OE (Outlook
Express), I soley would like to use a webmail client in connection with the
windows send to function.

Anyone an idea or hint for. I searched the newsgroups, the MS KB and Google
Mail help - all effort without luck!

Regards,
Dan

GMail can be configured to work with POP access with just
about any email client, see GMail help pages.
Unlike Hotmail, GMail POP access is free.

Hi Jim,
thanks for your feedback. Appreciate it.

But I actually do NOT want to use POP email client. I only want to use the
web-based application from google. In IE I am able to choose a standard email
service. (in "Internet option menu" -> tab "program"). If I choose hotmail,
and use the "send to" the hotmail website is opeing in my browser. I would
like the same setting for my goolg e email service (as I use this as primary
email service).

Any idea how to do this. Changing the registry or is google needing to
supply some API for this?

Daniel,

This is possible only if Google provides a MAPI plugin / DLL, such as the
one which Yahoo! and Microsoft Hotmail provide. Try contacting Google to
learn if they have released any:

Choose a different mail client from the list, click Apply/OK and close the
dialog. Repeat the procedure again and this time choose Microsoft Outlook as
the default mail client. Though this might look silly, there is a good
reason behind this.

Also, please mention the Operating System you're using.

Hi Ramesh,
I'm using Windows XP Home Edition Version 2002 Service Pack 2, Outlook 2002
SP3, Internet Explorer 6.0.2900.2180.xpsp-sp2-gdr.050301-1519. I tried as you
suggested but still when I try to send page by email, nothing happens.

Thanks,
Steve

Steve,

Perhaps my utility DefaultMail might solve this.

You mention Yahoo! provides a MAPI plugin. Can you point me to more about
getting and using this?
Thanks!

I am trying to fix a friend's e-mail problem in this regard. He's using
NetZero, and it does appear in the program choices under IE's programs as an
e-mail client. However, when you right click a picture or try to send e-mail,
it comes up blank (i.e. nothing pops up to send out an e-mail). If I change
it to Outlook Express, it does work, but we can't get the pop settings to
work for Netzero. He would prefer to use Netzero as the program of choice for
e-mail, but we cannot get it to work (it used to work but the system restore
point for that time period is no longer valid). We're using Windows XP SP2.
Thanks for any help you can give me!
