My Media Center 2004 stopped working recently. I was getting live TV
errors, missing video files errors, and guide errors. I tried reinstalling Media Center, reinstalling video, tv tuner, and dvd hardware and drivers, deleting "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\eHome" and letting Media Center try and rebuild my settings, and numerous other things, but no luck. As it turns out, I had installed Visual Studio 2005 Beta 2 and with it came the .Net Framework 2005 Beta 2. It seems .Net Framework 2005 treats COM wrappers differently, and since Media Center uses .Net COM wrappers, I was getting all the errors. After uninstalling everything associated with Visual Studio 2005 Beta 2, and then reinstalling by video and tv tuner drivers, my problems were solved! Hope this helps anyone else with this problem. |

Thanks for letting us know. I was planning on installing that beta on my new
