Long file names in Vista

I have discovered a strange problem with long file names in Vista, does
anyone have an explanation?

Your post does not provide sufficient information.
Please provide detailed steps to reproduce this problem.
By that I mean provide actually file names for the original file and the
full path to the file location for compression to the zip and then where yuo
were trying to decompress form and save to.
