Hi

I have an HP laptop (DV9207us). There is a minor problem, but nonetheless,
yet-to-be-resolved problem.

Say, I click Start | Hibernate, and the laptop goes into hibernation (all
lights went off, etc.). I close the lid, and return the next morning to
find the laptop powered up (with the lid closed). I contacted HP and was
suggested to uninstall the ACPI Fixed Feature Button from Device Manager |
System. I did that, and it didn't help. On my 2nd HP support contact, I
was suggested to update the Intel Chipset. I did that, and still it didn't
help. On my 3rd HP support contact, I was suggested to change the setting
for the Lid Closing from Hibernation to Do Nothing. Still no work.

So again, the problem was that the laptop didn't stay in hibernation until I
turn the laptop on; it just woke itself up after an unknown period of time.
If the laptop went into hibernation at night, it would wake up the next
morning. If the laptop went into hibernation when I left for work, it would
wake up when I came back from work.

Anyone came across this problem ?? Is this a hardware/HP issue ? Or Vista
issue ??

Thank you
Steve

The other item to check is your video card. On my m200 tablet I have noticed
a big difference in performance and whether or not I can sleep or hibernate
depending on which nVidia driver I have installed.

With all of the nVidia drivers I've tried since release I have not been able
to use an external monitor and the tablet screen at the same time. (This
lead to the interesting experience of presenting Windows only program -
Expression Web at a conference using my MacBook running Vista under
Parallels <g>) and being able to hibernate but not sleep. With generic
Microsoft drivers I can sleep and hibernate but I cannot rotate my display
for use in my preferred portrait orientation.

Be glad that HP is at least trying to help Toshiba simply says the m200 is
not supported because it is not "Vista Capable" never mind that my only
issue is not having a proper video driver - using hacked ones from
http://laptopvideo2go.com gives me glass and rotation but they are not as
stable as I would like.
