The last couple of days my computer has been running
super slow.It is a 2.2G with 640mb of ram running XP.It
has always been quite fast but now I am totally lost.
I've defragmented, disc cleanup and scanned for viruses
but to no avail. What I have noticed is the green progress
loading bar at the bottom now does the the
following....when I click on a web page it immediately
fills but then drops back down to empty and very slowly
begins to fill again....when it does fill the page is
loaded.Any help or pointers would be greatly appreciated.

James;
Run an updated virus scan.
Or Scan for Viruses online:
http://security.symantec.com/ssc/hom...ZTYMWPAZTJWUFJ
Run Disk Cleanup checking all boxes except "Compress old files"
(Windows XP)
Start/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools/Disk Clean-up
Run Defrag.
Start/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools/Disk Defragmenter
If you have file sharing software such as Kazaa, disable it.
Check this link:
http://www.aumha.org/a/noads.php
Run Ad-Aware (free version) or Spybot to check for spyware:
http://www.lavasoft.de/ (Update if you already have it)
Or
http://spybot.eon.net.au/ (Update if you already have it)

This may apply if you recently installed Windows XP Service Pack 1:
