Exchange 2003 SP2 Cluster running on Windows 2003 SP1.
We have 3 storage groups each having 3 databases running. The original mailbox store has a corruption and is not backing up. This database has the system attendant mailbox on it. I have moved all mailboxes from this database to another database. I would now like to delete this mail store but need to move the system attendant to another mail store first. I have read articles that are referring to deleting the entire store and then the system attendant mailbox will get recreated on another store/database. I don't want to delete the entire store just this one mail store. How do i go about moving the system attendant mailbox? Will this work: 1. Dismount corrupt mail store 2. Delete the edb & stm files for this database 3. Mount the database again (creates new edb and stm files) 4. System attendant mailbox is created in same database without any impact on anything else? Please clarify if this will require any restart of services and if this is ok to do at any time? Additional comment also welcome! Many thanks. |

Yes, delete your edb and stm files, when the mounting process starts
it will use the system attendant directory object to re-create the MB. You never move the this mailbox as it's guid is associated with it's respective store. For some more info on the system mb.
