I was going to start off by saying, "what a busy week it was" --- but then
again, every week is a busy week! I recently heard that the French are
considering moving away from a 35 hour work week --
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/7265807/ Well, whatever number of hours we work,
there always seems to be more that we could do, or want to do. Hopefully,
everyone takes time out to be with the ones they love, and tell them so!

Being the IT manager / administrator / geek doesn't usually come with much
praise. If the computers are working, the users don't bother you. But, boy,
as soon as one goes down, they're all over you, wanting to know why it
broke, why it isn't fixed, and what you're going to do to make sure it
doesn't happen again. We get no respect!

So this week's song is Bette Midler's hit, Wind Beneath My Wings
Aka: Code Beneath My Screen
(Think of it as your computer or server singing this song to you!)

WAV:

It must have been cold there in the office,
to never have sunlight on your face.
You were content to let me work, that's your way.
You always were a patch behind.

So I was the one with all the disk drives,
while you were the one with all the code.
A beautiful face with a password that was so long.
A wonderful time for the tape to load.

Did you ever know that you're my hero,
and everything I would like to be?
I can work faster than an Apple,
for you are the code beneath my screen.

It might have appeared to go unnoticed,
but I've got it all here in my CPU.
I want you to know I know the truth, of course I know it.
I would be nothing without you.

Did you ever know that you're my master,
and everything I would like to be?
Even the Penguin can't compute faster
for you are the code beneath my screen.

Did you ever know that you're my hero,
and everything I would like to be?
I can work faster than an Apple,
for you are the code beneath my screen.
