My client is using the Fax Services from SBS 2003 .They have a Microsoft Word
Template with a .dot extension. They would like to use this template when
using the Cover Page when they fax. I know there is a way to create a custom
cover page, but is there a way to import this file into the Templates
folder?Thank You

Hello Enrique,

Thank you for posting in the SBS newsgroup.

According to your description, I understand that you would use a Microsoft
Word Template with a .dot extension to create Fax Cover page. If I have
misunderstood the problem, please don't hesitate to let me know.

Based on my research, please kindly refer to the following information:

Start Word and create a fax cover sheet
In this exercise, you start Word and create a fax cover sheet.
1. On the Windows taskbar, click the Start button. The Start menu appears.

2. On the Start menu, point to Programs, and then click Microsoft Word.
Microsoft Word 2000 opens.

3. On the File menu, click New. The New dialog box appears.

4. Click the Letters & Faxes tab, and then double-click the icon
representing the Professional Fax template. A new document based on this
template is opened.

Tip When you want to choose the template for a new document, you must use
the New command on the File menu rather than the New button on the Standard
toolbar.

Hi Nathan,
Thanks for the reply. My client has been using the .dot file, but now that
they are using SBS 2003, it will only accept templates with the .cov
extension when sending a fax from their desktops. I want to know how I can
convert the .dot file into a .cov file. Or if theres an alternate solution
where I wont have to recreate the fax template.Appreciate your help.

Hi Enrique,

Thanks for your kind update.

I am afraid that it is not available to convert it currently, because they
are totally different - different coding method and different format. One
belongs to Word (Office) components and the other belongs to Fax windows
components.

Anyway, you could add your own graphic to the Fax cover page via Fax Cover
Page Editor.

To add a graphic to a cover page

1. In a graphics program, such as Paint, copy the graphic to the Clipboard.
2. Open Fax Console.
3. On the Tools menu, click Personal Cover Pages.
4. Click the cover page template you want to edit, and then click Open.
5. On the Edit menu, click Paste.
6. Use the mouse or the arrow keys to position the graphic.

To edit an existing graphic on a cover page

1. Open Fax Console.
2. On the Tools menu, click Personal Cover Pages.
3. Click the cover page template you want to modify, and then click Open.
4. Right-click the graphic to view the shortcut menu.
5. Point to the type of object you have selected, such as Bitmap Image
Object or Image Document Object.
6. Click Edit to work on the cover page, or click Open to open a separate
window and work in the object editor program.
7. Click outside the graphic to finish editing the object.

If you have any questions or concerns related to this issue, please let me
know.

I appreciate your time and look forward to hearing from you.
