Anyone connected and Apple iPhone to exchange?

Thinking of getting one next month as a way to keep up on customers servers.
Sure you can have e-mail delivered to a mobile phone but this iphone looks
sweet!

With the new active sync technology throw that blog post out the window.

Thanks Susan! I did read that the iphone now supports exchange and also
about the new active sync. Maybe it will be easy enough a rookie like me
could do it!

How To Set Up iPhone Exchange ActiveSync - Stephen Foskett, Pack Rat:
http://blog.fosketts.net/2008/07/10/...ge-activesync/

If you don't have a godaddy cert you'll have to click on the box to say
ignore the cert warning (or something like that) but it should "just work".

Takes about 5 minutes if your SBS server is properly configured.

Don't enter domain name in domain box, leave it blank. Make sure the
user account is userl

Wow that is great to hear! I am doing a new install today and just found out
that the customer is using these. Glad I didn't quote it out originally!

Yep - super simple. Actually, setting up the iPhone (software 2.0 or later)
to work with Exchange ActiveSync on your SBS is actually easier than setting
up a Window Mobile Phone, especially if you're running a self-signed cert.
You don't have to mess with importing or installing the cert on the device
like you do with a WM device - just acknowledge the security warning and
you're good to go.

The iPhone also does some stuff via Exchange ActiveSync that the WM devices
don't do. For example, you can sync multiple top-level calendars and
contact lists to your iPhone. This is still limited to items within your
Exchange mailbox (so no public folders or synchronizing other users'
folders) - but you can sync multiple contact lists & calendars - works
really slick.

HTH!

Here is a link to my blog where I have listed a couple nuances that I have
found with the new iPhones and SBS. One has already been mentioned, the SSL
cert piece, but the other has not. You might run into it.
http://ctsitguru.blogspot.com/2008/0...-sbs-2003.html

In addition to what has been said, from a security stand point I recommend
not using the self signed certs, especially when you can't install it on the
phone. By not using SSL, say they connect their iPhone to an unsecured
wireless network. Well they just let anything syncing over Activesync
potentially lend its availability unencrypted to sniffers. Just a word of
warning.

Thanks Andrew! I will definately keep the reference info.
