I'm trying to get my PS3 to recognize my music collection with WMP11.(media
servers are enabled) When I follow the instructions for file sharing, I click
the check box "Share my media", then click "OK", the button goes gray for
about 20 seconds then re-appears. At no point do I get list of devices to
share with, nor does it let me configure sharing. Can someone help?

There's a fairly extensive FAQ on sharing with PS3 at this page :
http://boardsus.playstation.com/play...hread.id=47608

I know from these newsgroups that some people have had this working,
so I guess it's worth going through the steps there one by one, and
let us know which (if any) fail to work.

The main steps I'd make sure are that all the PC(s) and the PS3 are on
the same subnet, e.g they all have IP addresses in the range
192.168.1.2 - 192.168.1.254 for example.

That's important to check because WMP must be able to "see" other
devices on the same network.

If you have a WIFI router, then it's possible to be configured so that
wired connections are on one subnet (like 192.168.1.x) and the
wireless on another (like 192.168.5.x) which is called "wireless
isolation" and helps to prevent ad-hoc devices getting to your wired
devices.

The main WMP sharing FAQ is at this page (but doesn't mention PS3) :
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/win...q/sharing.mspx

Specifically check the Network and Firewall requirements listed, which
is even more important if you're using a firewall other than windows
firewall (which should integrate with WMP) such as Zone Alarm or
Norton - either of those could be blocking the search for devices.

I haven't seen that mesage before. What web page did you get or what
did it suggest when you clicked the "Web Help" button there ?

This page suggests the media library has become corrupt :(and how to
delete it) :
