I've downloaded previous versions ok (including 89), but build 90 will
not download. I'm trying to get the single DVD segment (sol-nv-b90-x86-dev.iso) on Solaris x86. I'm using the Sun download manager, but keep getting "Wrong data size in destination file" I've aborted the download and retried it, but get the same error. |

I was just able to download the single segment x86 DVD for build 90 - I didn't use the Sun download manager though. Good luck |

Even with a 20 minute interrupt caused by my ISP both image slices had the correct md5 hashes. snv_90 is installed and I'm posting from it. |

I just tried it again, and got the same problem. I'm now trying it via firefox, without the download manager. So far it looks ok - just hope firefox does not crash! Dave |

Forget that "download manager" thingy. It may be better than IE for Windows weenies but Solaris already has an excellent download tool in firefox. > I just tried it again, and got the same problem. It's the most stable "big" browser around. Now if I could only "register" my new OS.... The registration agent is too stupid to find its way to the Internet. |

I was not aware Firefox could recover from a crash and resume where it left off like the separate download manager can. It's not unknown for firefox to lock up so I need to kill it. Also of late, I seem to have had a lot of power failures. >> I just tried it again, and got the same problem. I'm now trying it via >> firefox, without the download manager. You certainly don't need javascript to download from Sun. > Also of late, I seem to have had a lot of power failures. I have a lot of ISP failures. They dedicate their efforts to installing packet sniffers and traffic shapers and fail to keep their essential equipment running. That their techs are a bunch of MCSEs doesn't help much either. >> Now if I could only "register" my new OS.... That registration thingy broke in b87 and I haven't been able to get an updated patchdiag.xref since 22 April. Even if the OS doesn't get patched staroffice and sunstudio12 are eligible for patches and need them. |

If you aren't using a recent version of pca, try to update it; unfortunately that's necessary quite often to follow Sun's changes to SunSolve. mp. |

I just got your dev. version and it grabbed the patchdiag.xref from Jun/04/08. Studio12 patches being downloaded now. |

It is using somewhat more memory but IIUC that is to be expected with ZFS. b_90 added a few utilities that I have always had to build myself, such as fetchmail and mutt. CUPS became available a couple of releases earlier and, surprisingly, Sun included the latest version in this release. I'm sure I haven't found everything else new with this system. I just checked, cdrecord is now the latest version too - another build not required. It boots ZFS and seems to be quite stable - so far. Definitely worth the download, at least for your own evaluation. |

I'm not sure how it sizes the swap, it used 4GB of swap on my system that has 8GB of RAM, so it might be using 50% of physical RAM. |

Memory's cheap; I'll buy a couple of 2GB sticks. > # df -h /tmp > Filesystem size used avail capacity Mounted on swap > 9.3G 100K 9.3G 1% /tmp $ df -h /tmp Filesystem size used avail capacity Mounted on swap 1.1G 8.0M 1.1G 1% /tmp I didn't see any option in zfs(1M) for growing a zfs but it looks like I can drop to single-user mode, destroy rpool/swap and create a new zfs of size 4G. |
