I think instead of selling off Interbase with the rest of the IDE biz
Borland should re-open source it for v8. That way when the decide it
was a bad idea they can re-close the source for v9. To bad they would
still be loosing the rest of their IDE products.

To bad I didn't have this idea a few (4) days ago <g>.

But why? Why would they toss away value? What will they do with the staff?
Why isn't Firebird taking the open source database world by fire?

You've got to give a reason why this should be done, not just that you think
its a good idea.

Note the last sentance and the <g> I was just jokeing. All the talk
about DevCo is just getting redundant so I wanted to mix things up a
bit.

On the other hand merging FB2, vulcan, and IB8 together would be a
killer database.

Hmmm. Having the <g> on the first sentence might have alerted me. I
suppose I should have done the 4 day maths... I thought you meant that
you'd just bought/upgraded IB8 and wished you hadn't.
