Must be the way you have your browser configured or something or maybe your monitor. I have seen pages where the color selection makes it nearly impossible to read but white on very dark gray, as used here, looks ok to me. Eric |

The color scheme is the >best I've ever seen to make a page unreadable. I think I'm gonna puke. Looks fine in lynx - I really don't care about colors and images anyway. ------- My question is why are these companies (like Acer, Dell and others) selling these memory anemic systems with Vista pre-loaded? It seems to me to be misleading to sell a laptop with Microsoft Vista and less than 2GB of RAM when everyone I know personally in the personal computing technical community seems to agree that 2GB is really the minimum RAM one needs to have a good experience with Microsoft's Vista. ------- Have you looked at the inside cover ad in the April and May issues of Linux Journal? The ad is from HPC Systems Inc (San Jose, CA.) and is advertising their "HiPerSTATION 8000" as an upscale _desktop_ system. The ad gives the system highlights as 8 Quad Core Opterons with 2 TB of storage and_up_to_ 256 GB of DDR2-667 RAM. No mention of price, or what the BogoMIPs (see the BogoMips mini-howto) might be. ;-) As far as vista and it's problems, perhaps the article at <http://www.nytimes.com/2008/03/09/business/ 09digi.html?em&ex=1205380800&en=89901eb2917ab280&e i=5087%0A> (WATCH THE LINE WRAP) which includes this tidbit: Dell, which gave Microsoft a postmortem report that was also included among court documents, dryly remarked: "Customers did not understand what 'Capable' meant and expected more than could/would be delivered." will give a chuckle. (The NY Times article is reporting on a Class Action lawsuit against ms for implying that a 'Windows Vista Capable' logo means it will actually run. The article includes some internal ms documents that were subpoenaed by the plaintiffs.) Old guy |
