I am going through the process of trying to get a Hauppauge PVR 250 card
to work. Part of the process is to download the latest drivers. This I
did, downloading it to a windows partition. In the prcess of copying it
to a more convenient location, I must have double-clicked on it. To my
amazement it started to install. I allowed it to do so an it completed
the process.

I do not yet have Wine installed. How on earth did it work? Any ideas
anyone?

I assume it is there.
Look in /etc/rc.d/init.d/
and see if wine is there as a daemon.

Is it possibly a self extracting archive? The exe still wouldn't execute,
but Linux may have recognized it as a archive and started extracting it.

No. I recognise Windows Installer strutting its stuff when I see it.
Funny though, it didn't crash. It usually does ... under windows. <G>

You are all correct. It was on /usr/bin.
I have no idea how it got there. It was on my todo list.
I'm amazed at the way it just worked!
Sorry for the red herring. Linux amazes me a little virtually every day.
