Hello. I have a 100 person mixed mode Exchange 2007 & 2003 environment. Most
mailboxes are on the 2007 server. The Information Store was getting large and we had many employee changes, so I decided to start fresh. I was going to use ESEUTIL, but read on Technet that it is not necessarily the best option for this, and instead was pointed to Mailbox Moves (into new storage groups, databases). This has worked well - I really organized the databases nicely, backups are smooth, and disk space was saved, etc. Luckily, I had enough disk space for this operation. Now I need to remove the original First Storage Group database (115 GB) to really clear up space. I wanted to wait a few days before taking action. Now that all mailboxes are removed, and I have not heard of any user problems, I want to remove this group, but the System Attendant mailbox is still there. Question: in Exch. 2003, I recall that 'Adsiedit' had to be used to point that mailbox to a new store, but in Exch. 2007 can I remove the original storage group/database, and then restart the System Attendant service, and then expect to see that System Attendant mailbox is now on a new storage group database? Thanks, Dave |

I'd mount it up and put some users back into it. You've got the stores
available to you but yes, you can remove the store and remove the SG. |

I don't mean to belabor this, but, I do not need this store any longer. I
want to completely remove it, as it is not needed. All users have been moved into new databases. All is working great, I just want to know whether or not I can remove the First Storage Group along with its original database (no users exist there) and not have negative consequences for the System Attendant Mailbox (which resides on this very Storage Group DB). In other words, where will System Attendant Mailbox be recreated, if at all? Thanks, Dave "Mark Arnold [MVP]" wrote: |

Take a look at: http://exchangeshare.wordpress.com/2...exchange-2003/ which you can use effectively enough in 2007 if you experience issues, which you most likely won't. Restart the SA service and monitor. |

I am sure this process is easy, but I am very afraid of anything concerning "System Attendant" ;> Thanks for all your help! |
