I am Running Windows XP pro SP3 on an Acer Desktop
I originally had issues with my original CD-ROM, DVD RW, CD RW Drive. Where it would not read anytype of media inserted. I purchased an external CD-ROM / DVD RW / CD RW Drive and it is USB. I am now getting error messages stating F:\ is not accessible Access is denied. (F:\ is where its connected to the computer). under computer management i went to Event Viewer and noticed several Errors on Removable Storage Service. I right clicked on it and clicked on properties and this is the message ... "RSM cannot manage library CdRom4. The database is corrupt. For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp." Another error message i got was ... "Timeout (30000 milliseconds) waiting for a transaction response from the ShellHWDetection service. For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp." under one of the other error messages listed as Service control Manager. To further check this i went to Storage and clicked on libraries. Where both my original CD ROM and my external CD ROM drives had red X's on them. I have tried to uninstall the drivers, reinstall, restarting the computer after each time. With no luck. Then the other error message i saw in Event Viewer was with DCOM. Under properties this is the message i get. . . "DCOM got error "The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it. " attempting to start the service NSCService with arguments "" in order to run the server: {09B7ADDC-8BF0-409B-8571-43E8EA2AAFA3} For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp." The help talks about windows NT.... So any thoughts, further info needed please let me know. Im not new to computers, work well with good direction, however not an expert by any means. Thanks |

You are posting incomplete Event Viewer reports, which makes it less easy for those who might want to help. Ony post reports from the last 48 hours. A tip for posting copies of Error Reports! Run Event Viewer and double click on the error you want to copy. In the window, which appears is a button resembling two pages. Click the button and close Event Viewer. Now start your message (email) and do a paste into the body of the message. Make sure this is the first paste after exiting from Event Viewer. Is the DVD drive recognised in the BIOS? Do you have any Roxio or similar software installed? Are there any yellow question marks in Device Manager? Right click on the My Computer icon on your Desktop and select Properties, Hardware,Device Manager. If yes what is the Device Error code? |

Event ID: 7011 DMServer refers to the Logical Disk Manager. The StartUp type should be Automatic http://www.blackviper.com/WinXP/servicecfg.htm Select Start, Administrative Tools, Services, place cursor on Logical Disk Manager and double click. Change the StartUp type tp Automatic. Click on Apply and OK. Exit and Restart your computer. This may eliminate the Event ID: 15 Error. Look in Event Viewer to see if both Event ID: 7011 and Event ID: 15 are no longer appearing. Event ID: 10005 NSCService = NSCSRVCE.EXE is Norton Protection Center Service (NSCService). Related to Norton Internet Security What Norton product do you have? What is it's status? Event ID: 15 http://snipurl.com/apyjz [www_eventid_net] An error is logged when you connect a smart USB device to your Windows Server 2003-based computer http://support.microsoft.com/kb/875527/ Are you using a backup proramme like Norton Ghost or Rollback?
