Hi,
Is there a document (microsoft or not) that I can use to set up a
baseline for my SQL Server 2005 Counters?
As an example I would like to know what is the normal Buffer Cache Hit
Rate or what is the normal vlue for deadlocks per second.

Thank you,
T.

Hi tolcis,

Here is a post I put up on my blog about detecting hardware bottlenecks with
SQL server. I will be posting in a few days the counters you need to be
tracking inorder to get a well defined baseline for your SQL servers.

Not sure if this will help me. I need a baseline for a normal SQL
Server. From what I understand that tool will analyze my current
server state.

I suggested you the tool so that it may help you to set your baseline. For
instance, when your processor time hits 80 then it means a CPU bottleneck
and you'll find this in PAL as well, however there's no a standard threshold
for locks\blocks as it depends on your transactions' durations, isolation
levels and lots of things. There's no a template baseline for every counter
and situation.
