Hello,
We're expanding our existing Exchange 2003 installation and are in the middle of installing clustered mailbox servers. Once they're installed, we'll add two, dedicated non-clustered servers just for Public Folders. Just wanted to check: when we re-home our public folders to the new, dedicated public folder servers, what should we do with the default public folder stores on the other servers? Can they be deleted, or is a public store needed on every Exchange server just for the system folders? Thanks, - Alan. |

Leave them alone. Exchange 2003 needs them for OAB distribution and
Free/Busy data as well as system folders (OWAScratchPad, etc.). "Alan" <bruguy> wrote in message news:0597 [..] |

What you will need to do is to go into the properties of each store and point them at a PF server that will look after the free/busy information. Failure to do this part will result in nobody being able to properly do any scheduling. |

Oh yeah, remember that there will be some extra network traffic and
(oh so small) delay as free/busy info traverses the network. |

This is because you're smarter than I am; I didn't even think of simply changing the default PF stores on the mailbox databases. That's what skipping your daily coffee dose will do to you. |
