Has anyone else run into this problem? I was under the impression that when
you save as a package the linked images would get saved to that same folder. I seem to have the same issue with ppt 2007 on vista as well. It "packages" but I don't actually see copies of the linked images in the folder. Are they invisible? Am I missing something? Thanks |

It wouldn't be making files invisible, but are you certain the images are linked? By default, they'll be embedded. ============================== PPT Frequently Asked Questions http://www.pptfaq.com/ PPTools add-ins for PowerPoint http://www.pptools.com/ Don't Miss the PPTLive User Conference! Yes, I am definitely ticking the "link" option in the insert file dialog box.
I also tried un-ticking "save with document" to ensure that it wasn't linking AND embedding. "Steve Rindsberg" wrote: [..] |

Thanks. Here's the deal: image linking has been badly broken in PPT since the feature first appeared and has never been fixed. On your own PC, it works reasonably well, so long as you never move the files around. If you have to give the files to anyone else, it's best to embed the images. There's no real file size penalty, considering that you've got to include the images, linked or embedded, one way or another. We have an add-in, FixLinks (http://www.pptools.com/fixlinks/) that can help. The free demo will remove the paths from your image links and copy the images to the same folder as the PPT. When there are no paths in the links, PowerPoint will *usually* look for the linked files in the same folder as the PPT itself. So long as you keep the PPT and linked images together, you're good to go. The free demo can also convert linked images to embedded ones. The demo's not time limited. > > "Steve Rindsberg" wrote: > ============================== PPT Frequently Asked Questions http://www.pptfaq.com/ PPTools add-ins for PowerPoint http://www.pptools.com/ Don't Miss the PPTLive User Conference!
