I just bought this combo and no where to be found does it tell you how to
turn these 2 items on and off. Do you even need to or do they turn off automatically when my computer goes into sleep mode. Seems that if they didn't turn off and on, the battery life would just suck. |

Hi,
Most of our keyboards don't have power switches because most people don't think to switch a desktop device like that on and off. Instead, the keyboards are programmed to go to varying levels of sleep when no key is pressed for a certain amount of time. If your keyboard is sitting on the desk all night with no one touching it, it's not going to be drawing very much power. The Arc Keyboard and the Bluetooth Mobile Keyboard 6000 are exceptions because we expect people to carry them around in a laptop bag or backpack where something might press down a key and drain the battery more quickly, so they have switches. Our mobile mice usually have a way to turn off power, again because they might be shoved in a backpack where something presses the buttons. For mice that have larger transceivers, the transceiver usually nests in the bottom of the mouse and activates a switch. It's usually not a true on/off switch, because there are various electrical considerations, but it puts the mouse in a super low power state, even if a button is pushed. For mice that have our super small transceivers, we assume you might want to leave the transceiver in your computer, so we put manual switch on the mouse. Again, it's really more of a standby switch than true on/off, but it does the same low power state. I looked at the technical data sheets for both the Wireless Media Desktop 1000 and the Wireless Optical Desktop 1000 and both list 6 months of typical battery usage. Which includes leaving them turned on but not touched for long periods of time. Probably more than you wanted to know, but hope it helps. |
