None of the above seem to work in Windows 7. Anyone configure msn mail as default client there?

MSN EXPLORER 9.5 has been my favorite for email client for years. But on
VISTA it would not set as my default. After searching thru forums and the
search engines, I almost gave up with fustration. Then messing around tonight
I finally figured it out, MSN 9.5 still lives on

What you needs to do is right click on the START BUTTON
Then select properties, this will open the Taskbar and Start Menu Properties
Now click on the Start Menu tab next to the Taskbar tab
Then click the Customize next to the Start menu
This will now open the Customize Start Menu up
At the bottom of the window is the Internet link and the E-mail link
Click the down arrow next to the E-mail link and select MSN or your Email
client you wish to use
Then click OK, then apply on the Taskbar and Start Properties then click OK
on the same window

I hope this will work for you as it did me. Now I have Full power over my
computer again

Default (MAPI) mail client...
Every time I start MSN Mail I get a message asking me if I want MSN to be my
default mail client and every time I click on yes. Yet, whenever I click on
a send mail link it starts up Windows Live Mail

Any idea why my MSN mail selection isn't sticking

MSN Explorer ?

Fyi
- for MSn Premium subscribers without a partner(e.g. Qwest, Verizon, Bell) using dial up, dsl, or byo isp the current version is
10 and should be installed on Win7.

- for MSN Premium subscribers with a partner, the current version is 9.6 (version 10, based on an earlier Msft post in this forum
has not been made available for the partner community)

Greetings,

This issue has been fixed in MSN 10 which is the current version for MSN
retail customers. If you receive MSN through Qwest, Verizon or Bell Canada,
the current version is 9.6. We are still working on the release dates for
these versions of MSN 10.

To set MSN Explorer 10 to be your default email program, please do the
following:
1) Launch MSN Explorer
2) Click on Help & Settings
3) Click on Settings
4) Click on E-mail (left hand side of the screen)
5) Click on E-mail options
6) At the bottom of the 'Select e-mail options' screen, click on the link
"Use MSN Mail to send and receive all mail"
7) Click OK, and then click Save Changes

Thank you,

Berit,
If I may ask an additional question regarding MSN 10 on Win7...does that 'fix' also ensure that MSN Explorer is the client used in
IE8 on Win7 32bit/64 bit when invoking either
a. Send Link by email in IE8
and/or
b. Microsoft Word/Excel (Send a copy of the workbook or document as an attachment in an email)

Thanks..

Hi Winston,

The scenarios you mentioned below should use MSN Mail as the default email
account.

I did verify on my Windows 7 (64-bit) machine and I was prompted to use MSN
Mail for both.

Thanks for the good questions.

Take care,
Berit

With MSN 10 installed in Win7 (or even Vista), is MSN Mail a choice for
default Mail in Set Program Access and Computer Defaults?

I wish that you had asked this on Tuesday - I just rebuilt the machine with MSN
10 on it and wasn't going to install it on the rebuilt machine... Maybe after I
get back from Summit, but I suspect you'll have an answer by then, PA Bear. :-)

Do you think it's so NDA that they won't discuss it during a WL session?
