In trying to Lite Touch a Dell Latitude E6400 with Windows XP from MDT
2010, I have consistently had a problem with the IDT 92HDxxx HD Audio
driver. There are several versions of this on the server, and all of
them get copied to the client during the Lite Touch installation. I
think Windows is choosing to use the wrong one, because as soon as the
drivers are loaded for the first time, a Windows error message pops up
telling me that the software was shut off. The Device Manager shows the
audio device has not started because, it says, the driver may be
corrupt. When I try installing the driver manually with the correct copy
in the %systemdrive%\Drivers folder that Lite Touch puts on the system
during installation, it works.

So my guess is that for some reason Windows is selecting either a 64-bit
driver or a Vista/7 driver instead of the 32-bit XP driver. Why would it
do this, and how can I get it to choose the right driver? I need those
drivers present on the deployment server, because there will be other
systems that need them.

This IDT audio driver is the only one I have this problem with.

I've confirmed that Windows is loading the wrong audio driver version
out of the several available. I'm going to look into subdividing my
drivers into folders to better target them to the right OS version.
